Review Released on Evansville’s ‘Immersion Worship Band’

Immersion Worship Band (at http://immersionworshipband.com/music/), the worship team of Gethsemane Church in Evansville, Indiana, have released their debut worship project, ‘We Lift You Up’. The 6 song EP is a collection of songs written specifically to encourage worship and to encourage those who hear them to lift up the name of Jesus.

The album bursts into life with the U2 guitar sounding title track, ‘We Lift You Up’. The tone and the quality of the guitar work on this song is truly fantastic. This is a wonderful way to start the album. With a more traditional guitar worship sound and a few little modern elements thrown in, this song really kick-starts the album.

Lyrically this album is very much using the words that you would sing on a Sunday Morning, lyrics that are accessible to any age group wanting to worship God. These songs are no holds barred guitar worship songs in the same mould as renowned worship leaders like Tim Hughes, Ben Cantelon, Paul Baloche and Darlene Zschech.

From the piano ballad of ‘I Am Blessed’ to the praise anthem of ‘Live Out Loud’, this album is an out and out praise album making excellent use of guitars and drums. I can see Immerison Worship Band using these songs in their own church and Image result for immersion worship bandworking well, and by recording this album they are effectively sharing these worship songs with the wider church community.

The album takes a quick turn with the track ‘Awakening’. This song falls into a slightly more creative, poetic and even dramatic side. There is an urgency to the song that feels like a crying out prayer. This comes over in the beautiful delivery of the vocals and the stunning guitar solo at the end. A fantastic song and one of the best on this collection.

The album ends with the triumphant ‘All To You’, and much like the start of the album it ends with a more traditional guitar worship sound. It’s the perfect song to end any album.

In any church around the world, the worship teams and worship leaders are always on the look out for fresh new worship songs to introduce into their own congregations. Everyone gets bored of using the same set of songs every Sunday morning right? Well, albums like ‘We Lift You Up’ are the perfect antidote to boring, stale, repetitive times of worship. Does your church need to introduce some new songs for its times of worship? Check out this album and enjoy a renewed time of praise and worship with a set of songs that will inspire and draw you closer to God.
