Push Back: This Is What It Looks Like – by Jim Bratten

Vice-President Mike Pence walked out of the Indianapolis Colts/San Francisco 49ers game at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on October 9. Many 49ers players had “taken a knee” at the playing of our national anthem so, as Pence and Trump had agreed earlier, if that disrespect for our flag and our nation occurred at the game, Pence would walk out. It did, so he did.

Pence took a stand for his country against those who denigrate it. This is what patriotism looks like. This is what “pushback” against ignorance looks like. The NFL players who desired a different response, with their handlers on the Left, didn’t like it. They called it a “stunt.”

Back in July, President Trump axed 860 Obama Regime regulations, 179 of which were on a “secret” list, many planned for the further strangulation of American business. The Congressional Review Act exists for Congress to review and control abuse of regulatory power by federal agencies within an administration. Congress has abdicated most of its power in this area to the abuser, the executive branch. Since it has, little gets restricted. In the Trump administration, that will change; damaging regulations will fall.

This is what push-back looks like.

On the National Day of Prayer, President Trump issued an executive order rolling back the contraception mandate under Obamacare, via the HHS, relieving organizations like the Little Sisters of the Poor from providing contraceptives against their faith. Instead of cheers from religious leaders who had railed against the Obama regulation or kudos shouted by GOP leadership, the reaction was lukewarm. There should have been hurrahs from rooftops for the strengthening of religious liberty. After all, this is what push-back looks like…

President Trump signed an executive order on October 12, partially dismantling Obamacare. In this case, it was a blatantly illegal one: government financial support to private insurance companies suffering under the crushing rules and regulations of Obamacare, called Cost Sharing Reductions (CSRs). Congress had denied federal funding for CSRs to replace insurance company losses since the action was patently unconstitutional. So Barack Obama once again circumvented Congress and the law, paying insurance companies out of the U.S. Treasury Department. The courts had spoken against it; he did it anyway. Trump is discontinuing this illegal practice. This is what push-back looks like.

Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT)

Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) described Trump’s action as “setting our health care system on fire.” Murphy doesn’t like push-back to Obama’s “legacy.” Trump could not wipe out Obamacare’s damages under “repeal,” since an ineffective Republican-controlled Senate had failed to do it legislatively. He can slice it apart here and there, however, discarding the most illegal and disastrous pieces. He’s taking action where Congress has failed to do so, pushing back on a disastrous scam.

His White House press secretaries, first Sean Spicer and now Sarah Huckabee Sanders, conduct the White House press briefings in a different fashion: they push back against an adversarial media. And Trump is now, as promised, pushing back on Obama’s crooked “Iran Deal.”

Most Republicans in elected office over the last 30 years have never seen this. President Trump and his administration are doing things that the GOP leadership is completely unfamiliar with – like fighting back against the Fake News Media… or even confronting Democrats on issues.

This is what push-back looks like.
