Righting a Wrong: Manufacturing a Security Clearance ‘Crisis’ – by Jim Bratten

Jim Bratten

Here we go again. Paul Manafort hasn’t flipped on Trump. Stormy Daniels didn’t pan out. Robert Mueller’s crusade against Donald Trump’s presidency has reached an impasse. So now the press is foaming at the mouth over President Trump pulling a former government employee’s security clearance. After all, there has to be something to fill the printed pages and airwaves if the leftist media is to continue to ignore important national issues to compete head-on with The National Enquirer for sleaze awards.

An action by the president that should have been done 18 months ago is now the “new crisis.”

Former CIA director John Brennan’s security clearance was revoked last week by President Trump and for good reason, after his numerous attacks against the president and his active leadership in the attempted Deep State coup, spreading false “intelligence” in the debunked Steele dossier. “Brennan is an out of the closet extremist” and he doesn’t need any security clearance, said Fox News Channel prime-time host Tucker Carlson, accurately.

John Brennan

Of course, the press lurched at the chance to defend Brennan, proclaiming that what Trump has done is authoritarian. “A chilling action taken by the president of the United States,” is the way MSNBC described the termination of John Brennan’s security clearance. MSNBC compared Trump’s action to “something you would only see in a dictatorship or authoritarian regime.” CNN reported that the action was “without precedent in modern American history… the revocation of security clearances has never been used to punish people for speaking out… we should all be scared about the state of our democracy.”

But revocation of Brennan’s clearance isn’t being done for “speaking out.” This isn’t an issue of curbing his “free speech.” As Dr. Sebastian Gorka, a former White House security advisor under Trump, explained, “Brennan supported Moscow during the Cold War and he supports the Kremlin today.”

CNN should have been afraid “about the state of our democracy” when Brennan occupied the office of CIA Director. His cooperation with Islamic jihadists, coziness with the Muslim Brotherhood, and “hands off” approach to IS (the Islamic State) and radically Islamist Iran is a matter of record.

Admiral Bill McRaven (USN-retired) compared Trump’s action to “McCarthy-era tactics” and sarcastically asked Trump to pull his security clearance. It’s surprising how many, even in the military, do not understand a president’s prerogatives under the Constitution. He decides who has clearances and who doesn’t. It’s his decision.

Brennan’s blatant abuse of power as head of the CIA is a matter of record, it isn’t conjecture. He and former DNI James Clapper made certain the contents of the Steele dossier got to Senator Harry Reid and from there to the press for anti-Trump publicity purposes, in the laying of groundwork to sabotage his election. When that failed, these two were involved in the subversion of Trump’s presidency, including lying to congressional committees. Brennan’s CIA broke into the congressional database, searched committee computers, and intimidated committee staff. This was illegal and an obvious violation of the doctrine of separation of powers under the Constitution.

John Brennan, a (former?) communist who should never have had a security clearance in the first place, remains a danger to this nation’s security and sovereignty, largely due to his efforts to subvert a presidential election and then to remove a legally-elected president from office.

By removing John Brennan’s security clearance, President Trump has simply righted a wrong done in March, 2013 when Brennan assumed his position at the CIA.

Brennan is standing by his accusations of treason against this president and plans to sue. The Constitution says, “Bring it on.
