According to Philip Bump, writing in The Washington Post on July 23, “…the 1988 Supreme Court case Department of the Navy v. Egan determined that the president has the authority to simply revoke an individual’s clearance.” If the media shock subsides, we need to look at the rest of “the list”:
James Clapper, former DNI (Director of National Intelligence), pushed conspiracies about President Trump throughout visual media, is responsible for leaks of classified and other intelligence to the press, and has lied to congressional committees.
James Comey, former director of the FBI, was fired by President Trump for improper conduct. He has also stolen government property, leaked potentially classified documents, lied, and committed FISA abuse. Sally Yates, former deputy attorney general of the DOJ, was fired by President Trump for insubordination.
Andrew McCabe, former deputy director of the FBI, was fired for improper conduct,lying, and allegations of FISA abuse.
Peter Strzok, former FBI agent, was fired from the FBI last week for improper conduct. He weaponized political bias to subvert an election and faces allegations of FISA abuse.
Lisa Page, former FBI lawyer and paramour of Peter Strzok, resigned from the FBI due to accusations of improper conduct. She shares Strzok’s subversion profile.
Susan Rice, former White House National Security Adviser under President Obama, has lied about national security matters on numerous occasions, the most heinous being the massacre in Benghazi, Libya in 2012.
Michael Hayden, former director of the NSA, is a more questionable case and poses less of a risk to national security.
The last name on the president’s list, Bruce Ohr, former associate deputy attorney general, still works at the DOJ. He has been twice demoted for improper conduct, covered up conflicts of interest, has filed false financial disclosure reports, and has his fingerprints all over the “Steele dossier.”
These individuals need their security clearances revoked as soon as possible, since they no longer work there. Simple.
