Larry Bucshon Refused to Debate… Again – by Andrew Horning

Andrew Horning

Not surprisingly, Representative Buchson once again refused to debate yet another candidate. Sadly, almost nobody seems to care.

The voters and media of the 8th district really ought to get wise to their federal congressman.

He has for years avoided any venues where regular folks could ask un-screened questions. He goes where the audience is limited and known. He refuses to debate in the primary. He refuses to debate even for the General Election. Only 0.7% of his campaign contributions come from “small” individual donors, and most of the rest comes from PACs and donors from outside the state.

But then, he’s actually a resident of Washington D.C.

His house in Evansville is more or less just a golf ball marker.

And yet voters keep reelecting him? Why?

If you don’t show for the job interview, you shouldn’t get the job. If you’re representing interests, corporations and non-Hoosiers instead of the people of this district, you shouldn’t be reelected.

I don’t support the Democratic candidate William Tanoos. There is no Libertarian or other candidate this time (no wonder, since nobody gets a chance to be heard). So I literally have no vote in this race.

But I still want to hear both of these men try to change my mind. Maybe a debate would reveal information I couldn’t ferret out on my own. Maybe I’m missing what could make a difference in my decision.

The incumbent should not be in charge of the election process.

I’m disgusted that 8th district voters are such pushovers for their insular, arrogant incumbent.

He ought to be fired, not continuously reelected.
