Democrat ‘Hate Farce’: Refusing to Admit the Obvious – by Jim Bratten

After her recent bigoted outburst against Jews and those who befriend them, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has not been reprimanded in the least. Given a complete pass by Democrats, she now knows that pro-Palestinian speech is okay; pro-Hamas speech and pro-Hezbollah speech is also okay. But not pro-Israel speech by anyone.

Twelve Jewish organizations asked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to pull freshman Rep. Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee. In response, Pelosi defended Omar, even apologizing for Omar’s supposed naïveté. Nancy excused her abominable statements. “She has a different experience in the use of words…” said Pelosi, fronting for Omar’s hatred for Jews and Israel. But Omar is an intelligent woman and knows exactly what she wanted to convey. Omar’s anti-Semitism is a matter of record, but Democrat House leadership doesn’t care what she really believes.

On March 7, the New York Times headline read: “Democrats Put Off Anti-Semitism Resolution after Fierce Backlash.” The Democrats’ final response to Congresswoman Omar’s anti-Semitic comments was the “Hateful Expressions of Intolerance” resolution, the name chosen to deflect the public’s attention from the real problem.

A headline in the Washington Examiner exposed the Democrat cover-up: “Watered Down: Anti-Semitism Resolution Will Also Condemn Islamophobia, Police Profiling, White Supremacy.” The emphasis of the Democrat’s “resolution” wasn’t anti-Semitism at all (but the reason for it in the first place); just every other form of racism and bigotry known to human history.

Pelosi allowed Rep. Omar to edit the final resolution document. Of course, it doesn’t mention her name as the source of the original anti-Semitic remarks. In effect, Omar wrote the resolution. This will only embolden her and her anti-Semitic friends to push boundaries even further.

The resolution passed; Democrats covered for Omar by passing a broad, non-specific bill that doesn’t mention her by name, or her offense, and doesn’t censure her in the least. In other words, no punishment; and if she does it again, they’ll just pass another toothless resolution. Democrats refused to hold a debate on the bill when Republicans asked for it and final Democrat votes were 234 to 1 (not voting). So it was unanimous. Some Republicans objected, but you wouldn’t know it. They were content to watch Democrats self-destruct. It’s the Democrats’ official, but pitiful, response to anti-Semitism by Muslim Democrats elected in the 2018 midterms.

Ilhan Abdullahi Omar and her family fled war-torn Somalia, stopping in Kenya and other havens for Islamic refuge. Her family settled as refugees in Minneapolis, in a Somali community of 69,000 where her hatred for Jews was nourished further. Somali families in Minnesota have gained notoriety as the largest seed bed for Islamist recruits in the U.S., jihadis from there showing up in groups such as Boko Haram, al-Qaeda and the Islamic State. This is the Muslim culture Omar still embraces. She didn’t get her anti-Semitic hatred from Democrats – she was taught by the Koran.

The argument about the intent of Omar’s words has become political, but it shouldn’t be. It’s about the centuries-old conflict between Islam and Judaism. Islamic hatred of Jews has been around since the advent of Islam in the seventh century. It continues today as a struggle between faith-based cultures and the Democrats have chosen sides. It’s that simple.

When you appease hatred, however, the worst happens – you get more of it.
