Used Against You – Panorama Survey Linked to Facebook & Google

Letter to the Editor

Parents, take note of the Panorama (non-educational) survey that EVSC is giving again to K-12. The survey should be rejected ASAP. The privacy implications and data obtained are a danger to students & their families.

The founders of Facebook and Google heavily funded the Panorama Survey. Mark Zuckerberg himself, as well as Google Ventures, gave to this organization. It was Mark Zuckerberg’s first known major gift. As some know, Google and Facebook grab all information even if it is skirting the law.

Parents & Guardians give up privacy by allowing children or grandchildren to take this “survey.” EVSC and Panorama Survey and any go-betweens that have access along the way may take the data then use the student ID to cross-reference family information with the file supplied to them by the EVSC School System. While EVSC and Panorama may “say” that the file is deleted during the process, the complete data file is sent to Panorama and that file is not needed if copied. There is no written statement concerning legal protections or anything else nor any legal threat to EVSC or anyone else should they bend or break their word. Yet EVSC Neuroeducation administrator, Susan Phelps, and EVSC dictate/declare your child will take the survey unless parents tell them otherwise.

It is imperative that families wake up and protect themselves now and not give schools information that can be used against them as we near the time when children ages birth to 22 years old will be diagnosed in schools with mental illness. With Indiana State Senator Vanetta Becker’s bill along with Wendy McNamara’s bill in the House on the fast track in the Indiana legislature to turn schools into mental health / mental illness diagnosis centers by July 2019, it would be wise to speak to all your contacts to inform families about the Panorama survey. Tools such as this survey will be used to diagnose mental illness, control, and track children and their families. Now that you are aware, it is up to you to inform others.

Finally, the recent public outburst of anger by the EVSC Superintendent during a school board meeting, concerning him wanting full participation in surveys, is disturbing. The horrendous bill, which Vanetta Becker/Wendy McNamara and other legislators are shoving through, will not only detrimentally affect students & their families but teachers in the school as well. Yet it is more important for the EVSC Superintendent to GET THE DATA. Some teachers do not trust the survey and neither should you trust the Panorama Education Survey.

If parents allow their children to take surveys, that information cannot be taken back.
