Ignorance Begets Socialism – by Jim Bratten

A poll recently conducted by the organization Victims of Communism found that nearly one-half of Millennials distrust capitalism and 70% of them are likely to vote for a socialist in 2020. These results shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Our current academic system is making its young graduates poorer; saddled on average with $37,000 in debt upon graduation. These students don’t have anything, but the wealthy do. “So why aren’t they paying for my education?” comes the question. We have produced a generation of naïve, immature college-miseducated “snowflakes” enslaved by ignorance and debt – because of a bloated higher education racket financed by the federal government and schools permeated by progressive, socialist ideology.

Ignorant of how “the world” works, students aren’t taught about self-reliance or personal responsibility; only dependence. Examples of the indoctrination of our young and their ignorance of the dangers of socialism are pervasive. The young people we see warming up to socialism, for the supposed “fairness,” are not told that fairness can mean standing in line for hours to get one roll of toilet tissue or sacrificing one’s life for a tyrannical ideology of starvation.

Results of the “equality of outcome, no matter the effort” mantra in education and, eventually, our popular culture, abound.

In 2014, the University of Southern Indiana reconfigured its curriculum to discredit capitalism and laud the “benefits” of socialism, somehow failing to mention the toll of over 100 million lives lost to the dangers of the cruel economic system.

Now the embedded socialist atmosphere at USI has fostered an appearance by avowed communist and former Black Panther Party criminal Angela Davis, addressing students this month with more indoctrination.

It has taken well over 250 years to build this culture, acquire customs and traditions, and nearly 250 to create a nation.

It could be dismantled through voter apathy and ignorance, the implementation of socialism happening over the span of a generation.

Ignorance can beget socialism.
