Acquittal Celebration Backlash – by Jim Bratten

Jim Bratten

The Senate voted on February 5 to acquit President Trump of all articles of impeachment. The coup attempt had failed and, although President Trump knew that this respite from Democrat attacks was temporary, he paused to celebrate with his allies the next day in the East Room of the White House. He spoke of his satisfaction with the victory; then his relief gave way to frustration.

“A very unfair situation… a tremendous thing was done over the last few months [pointing and referring to his defense team]… It never really stopped, for over three years… was evil… a wicked witch hunt… a disgrace.”

Finding affirmation, he released another salvo: “Tremendous corruption… we were working against evil people… Nasty.

“After Mueller was appointed, it should have taken two days, instead of two years… just to inflict pain… This was crooked politics… these people are vicious.”

An attempted coup, to reverse the results of a legal election because their Democrat candidate wasn’t likeable, was inarguably corrupt, and stood for policies that had been rejected by Americans who lived under them for years, had failed. Angry, major media had a virtual meltdown as Trump celebrated his escape from their grasp.

Backlash from pundits on CNN was as expected… “An unscripted, vindictive, at times profane, angry, rambling response to his impeachment acquittal… The tone, vindictive nature of his going through, clearly, almost an enemies list… full of revenge, mean-spirited, poisonous; it was spiteful.” John Harwood of CNN had a more detailed diagnosis: “A very disturbing tableau for the country; it was dark because he’s made clear that his mind is dark. This is somebody in deep psychological stress right now…”

Seriously, Harwood? After three years of incessant hammering with baseless allegations and accusations, harassing him, his friends and family, libeling him as a “Hitler,” and you’re questioning his mental condition and his attitude concerning your diabolical attacks?

So depressed in his own “dark mind,” John doesn’t recognize presidential elation.
