The whole world, except for maybe a few people on some deserted island off the subterranean coast of Namor’s Atlantis, has seen Avengers Endgame, the highest grossing movie of all time… and based on the sequential storyline of Marvel’s (MCU’s) 23 movies leading up to Endgame over the past 11 years, they will be coming out with a new series on Disney+ in 2021 called, “What If…?”.
The 23-episode animated series mimics the Marvel comic book series of the same name, will feature the original actors to voice-over their well-known superhero characters, and will entertain the thought-provoking question; “What if… one major detail in each movie was different, and how would that have played out on the silver screen?”
But the question of, “What If…?” certainly wasn’t coined by Marvel or Disney+ and has been used in the past by others. One of which is Judge Andrew Napolitano, a syndicated columnist for The Washington Times, Reason, and serves as an analyst for Fox News. Napolitano has been asking the question for several years on The Plain Truth.
Long before that and on the silly side of life, people have been asking since 1969, at the timing of the Apollo 11 moon landing, “What if… the moon is made of green cheese?” The nature of that question originates in fables once told to children as far back as the Middle Ages, making the question, “What if…?” a question that’s as old as Methuselah (or perhaps even older).
Since the question of, “What If…?” has a tendency to stir up our grey matter to consider what might be (as Marvel and Disney+ have done in their upcoming series), the VIP has come up with a series of its own. In this series, VIP readers are encouraged to read the questions in the article series, to allow the questions to bring further questions to mind, and to send in your “What If…?” questions to vipnewsroom@zoho.com.
This series is designed and intended to bring thought-provoking questions to our readers, and to open up discussion in the community.
