Election Interference – by Jim Bratten

Jim Bratten

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) accused, “Twitter is influencing the election… actively censoring a major press outlet,” shortly after Twitter suspended the New York Post’s coverage of Hunter Biden’s laptop. Both Twitter and Facebook don’t want you to know about the Hunter Biden emails or the involvement of Joe Biden in his son’s overseas “business” interests, or numerous other subjects that could affect anyone’s support for Biden. The emails refute what Joe Biden has said.

How can Twitter get away with this?

Internet platform companies are protected by 47 USC §230, passed into law in the Communications Decency Act of 1996. It provides immunity from third-party content. Users of social media can be sued for posts, but not a social media platform for its content.

“Section 230” protection for social media giants must be rescinded. Twitter needs to face the same regulations and penalties for content as major media or publishers do. They show massive political bias and must face their users’ lawsuits, if warranted. Section 230 protects them from this, due to their perch as a “neutral provider” of a public service. But they’ve become far from neutral or impartial. They are doing the bidding of one political campaign at the expense of another, for a shared purpose. That’s called collusion.

This is what Justice Clarence Thomas had to say about Section 230 of 47 USC: “Adopting the too-common practice of reading extra immunity into statutes where it does not belong …courts have relied on policy and purpose arguments to grant sweeping protections to Internet platforms.”

Democrat Media and their allied social media platforms are exhibiting a prime example of fascism: deciding what the public user can see/read/hear; what you can know, and what you cannot be allowed to know, so you’re never informed, ala Orwell’s 1984.

No more; two things must be done. First, Congress must rescind Section 230 protection for Internet providers, particularly social media platforms, and get it done this session. And second, subpoena Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and pursue penalties for Twitter’s blatant election interference.
