Taking on Big Tech – by Jim Bratten

Jim Bratten

It’s long overdue, but the defense of freedom of speech from the tyrannical forces of Big Tech has finally arrived.

Last week, ousted President Donald Trump announced a class-action lawsuit against the companies collectively known as “Big Tech” and their CEOs: Google and its CEO, Sundar Pichai; Twitter and its CEO, Jack Dorsey; and Facebook and its CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.

Google, YouTube (owned by Google), Twitter, and Facebook are being sued because of their collective attacks on the First Amendment and censorship of anything conservative that moves or communicates.

Over the years, as Big Tech grew to devour an entire social media and information industry, the Republican Party did nothing to rescind Big Tech’s immunities under FCC Section 230 or launch any effort to break up these monopolies that are now wreaking destruction on free speech rights and subverting our elections.

Founder Benjamin Franklin’s warning was plain: “Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freeness of speech.”
