Speaker Nancy Pelosi wore kente cloth on the anniversary of the death of George Floyd, kneeling with other Democrats for 8 minutes and 46 seconds on the floor of the Capitol Visitor Center to honor a felon.
But to remember 13 American service members killed in Afghanistan, taking a mere 30 seconds to pause and read the names of the fallen—that was out of the question for Nancy.
Their lives were taken as they tried to rescue Americans and Afghan allies trapped behind enemy lines in Kabul. Pelosi treated them as collateral damage because they weren’t “victims” in her eyes, as George Floyd was. In the eyes of Democrats, Floyd’s memorial stunt was a good photo-op for campaign use with black voters in 2022.
Thirteen brave service members weren’t political victims; they died in the service of our country so their memory held no benefit for Democrats.
