A ‘Consent Decree’? – by Jim Bratten

Does anyone remember voting machines suspiciously defaulting to Barack Obama? Or buses loaded with strangers appearing at polling places? And elections turning out 100% for a single candidate in precinct reports?

Yes; the 2012 presidential election exhibited all the above in numerous states. Did Republicans object to obvious examples of election fraud in 2012? Hardly.

Because a race-based consent decree that was negotiated by the Democrat Party against the Republican National Committee a generation before (1982) still had the RNC’s hands tied. GOP officials could be cited for contempt, or worse, if they attempted to make sure elections were clean.

As reported back then by Bob Unruh of World Net Daily, “Democrats alleged Republicans were trying to intimidate minority voters in New Jersey and brought the legal action. The RNC, inexplicably, decided to agree to a consent decree before a Democrat-appointed judge rather than fight the claims.

“The judge… appointed by Jimmy Carter, later retired but decided he would continue to control the case. The decision required the RNC – but not the DNC – to ‘refrain from undertaking any ballot security activities in polling places or election districts where the racial or ethnic composition of such districts is a factor in the decision to… deter qualified voters from voting… directed toward districts that have a substantial proportion of racial or ethnic populations…’

The section cited above has been used for decades to warn off Republicans from any challenge to evidence of voter fraud in districts with ‘racial or ethnic populations.’” Is this “consent decree” still haunting the GOP today? Is this why they are too timid to contest fraudulent elections? Given the massive fraud in 2020 and the reluctance to pursue suspect election outcomes we’d bet on it. We can picture 1982: “A consent decree? No problem.”
