Greatest Threat – by Jim Bratten

A headline caught our attention the other day: “Don’t be fooled by Kevin McCarthy.”

Many non-DC conservatives warned Donald Trump about trusting the GOP establishment, before he captured the party’s nomination, due to his status as an “outsider.” Establishment Republicans blocked and slowed his initiatives to take down their system – “Drain the Swamp.” Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell immediately spring to mind.

An audio surfaced recently, revealed by The New York Times, of a conversation between Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY).

McCarthy tells Cheney, “The only discussion I would have with him is that I think this will pass… and it would be my recommendation you should resign…” It appears that Cheney initiated the call, asking McCarthy if he would approach Trump for details of his involvement in the fake “insurrection” on January 6, 2021. Rep. Cheney sits on the illegal House “January 6 committee.”

Then there’s the House Republican Leadership call from January 10, 2021, when McCarthy said, “I’ve had it with this guy. What he did is unacceptable. Nobody can defend that, and nobody should defend it.” Defend WHAT? Defend what the Democrat Media SAYS Trump did, for which no evidence exists?

McCarthy used a visit to the southern border on April 25 to deflect the news about his betrayal of Trump and those framed for “insurrection” (trespassing, at the worst) on January 6, 2021.

Kevin McCarthy does not stand for America First. He does not represent constitutional conservatism. He represents the Swamp.

IF the GOP takes back the House in November, they will need fighters – who fight against Democrats, not conservatives.

It appears that the Republican Party’s greatest threat to its future as a viable political party is its own leadership.
