Time for Push-Back – by Jim Bratten

Rep. Maxine “In Their Face” Waters (DCA), the Queen of Impeachment, is now in charge of the House Financial Services Committee, and she’s flexing her ignorance.

Rudely confronting treasury secretary Steve Munchin in a committee hearing last week, Waters laid out her new rules. She proclaimed, “This is a new day, and a new way; and I have the gavel.” (Earlier she had called it the “gravel.”) After over three hours of nonsensical riddles, and treasury secretary objections, she glared at him and told him he could “leave at any time…” Surprise – he had pushed back, weary of the politics.

Later in the week, Waters summoned CEOs of the largest banks in the nation and demanded of each, “What are you doing to help with student loan debt?” Their answers were all similar: “We don’t do that anymore and haven’t for years.” Jamie Dimon, CEO of JP Morgan, informed her that the federal government took over student loans in 2010, under Obama, when she was a member of Congress. He should have pushed back and asked, “You helped create this mess; what are you doing to fix it?”

Then a reality-altering event happened to Democrats during a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY). Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) tried to disparage a young black woman by playing a few seconds of a two-hour audio clip, to tie her (a Trump supporter) to Hitler and white nationalism. When Candace Owens, Communications Director of Turning Point USA, pushed back against Lieu’s personal attack and Nadler’s harassment nonsense, it caused a media furor. The fact that Owens, a young black conservative, would push back against Rep. Nadler’s bullying, had shocked Democrats running to their “safe spaces.”

Jeremy Art, CSPAN’s Social Media Senior Specialist, reported that “in less than 24 hours, this video is the most watched CSPAN Twitter video from a House hearing (4.47 million views).” Viewers had witnessed an anomaly, but this belated push-back against rude idiocy of progressives must intensify.

Candace Owens, keep it up while we figure out how to clone you. Well done.
