Christianity Attacked: Playing Word Games While Ignoring Evil – by Jim Bratten

Within hours after the announcement of a devastating fire on April 15 at the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral hit the media, any thought of arson was rapidly discounted, even though just 72 hours before the blaze began a Muslim woman had been arrested for an arson attempt in Paris.

Later that day, both Neil Cavuto and Shepard Smith of the Fox News Channel terminated conversations with guests who dared to broach the question of a possible arson attack as the origin of the fire in the 800 year-old cathedral. Despite evidence of hundreds of attacks on Christian places of worship in France the prior year, both men refused to entertain the possibility. They wouldn’t allow the concept, though in the prior year 875 churches were vandalized in France, 12 churches had arson attempts and, over a two-year period, nearly 2,000 French churches had been attacked. Benjamin Moulton, chief architect at the cathedral, discounts the “accident” excuse.

Then on April 21, Easter Sunday, radical Islamists in Colombo, Sri Lanka attacked seven locations – four Catholic churches and three hotels. Militant Muslims blew themselves up amidst Christians, dedicating the bloody massacres to Allah as they detonated their explosive vests. At last count, there are nearly 250 dead and approximately 400 wounded from the eight bombs delivered on Easter, courtesy of the “Religion of Peace.”

The holiest day on the Christian calendar was marked for slaughter by radical Muslims but, by the comments from the Left, you wouldn’t know it. Barack Obama tweeted, “The attacks on tourists and Easter worshippers in Sri Lanka are an attack on humanity.” Seriously, he implied an attack on all humanity? Of course it wasn’t that at all; it was an attack on Christianity, specifically. The Islamists targeted churches.

Hillary Clinton chimed in, also tweeting, “I’m praying for everyone affected by today’s horrific attacks on Easter worshippers and travelers in Sri Lanka.” Her comments in an interview about the slaughter included the phrases “holy weekend for many faiths” and “hatred and violence.” That weekend was sacred to only two faiths: Easter for Christianity and Passover for Judaism. But Mrs. Clinton couldn’t bring herself to deal with specifics. As both Obama and Clinton fail to understand, Christians don’t “worship” Easter; we worship Christ, and celebrate His resurrection on Easter Sunday.

Once again, The Washington Post turned tragedy into politics, their headline reading, “Sri Lanka church bombings stoke far-right anger in the West.” What’s “far-right” about Christianity and why is there anger only in “the West”? And why is it that progressives always struggle to say the word, Christian?

During 2018, according to the Open Doors World Watch List, 345 Christians were killed every month by religious violence; 105 churches were burned or attacked; and 4,136 Christians were killed that year. In Nigeria alone, there have been 900 church attacks over a five-year period.

Many U.S. allies in the Middle East (Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, etc.) receive billions in aid from the U.S. but persecute Christians and Jews. In Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia, conversion to Christianity from Islam carries a death sentence. The last Christian church in Afghanistan is now closed, its long-term lease contract severed. Syria used to be a safe country for Christians under the protection of President Assad, as it had been for centuries, but no longer. Since the advent of the Islamic State there and Syria’s internal conflicts, most Christians have fled for their lives. Those who stayed were tortured, beheaded, or crucified.

Christianity is the most targeted faith on earth, as are its houses of worship, mainly by Islamists. Sadly however, progressives still cannot name the evil that causes the bloodshed, or even name its victims.
