Ignoring the Causes: Using the Dead as Props for Political Gain – by Jim Bratten

There were seven dead and 52 wounded in Chicago the same weekend as the killings at a Wal-Mart in El Paso, Texas and outside a bar in Dayton, Ohio. But Chicago didn’t earn any coverage; apparently, popular cable news sources didn’t think it was “newsworthy.” Casualties are ever-present in south and west Chicago but don’t carry political weight, since black-on-black fatalities cannot be blamed on President Trump or his “alt-right supporters.” The first weekend in August was the deadliest for Chicago in 2019, but when 1,610 are killed this year, 290 fatally, the media ignores it. No causes are given in a Democrat-controlled city with a revolving judicial system that doesn’t support its own police.

Normal reaction from reasonable people after the attacks on August 3rd and 4th was to search for a cause. However, reaction from the media was anything but normal. There was no investigative reporting in the massacres in El Paso and Dayton. All the media did was react in knee-jerk fashion by aiming accusatory fingers at “Trump and his rhetoric” as the reason for the killing.

The El Paso shooter hated Mexicans long before Donald Trump campaigned for president and, in his “manifesto,” revealed he was a radical devotee of man-made climate change and called the bomber of the ICE facility in Washington (an Antifa member) a hero. He is a leftist. The shooter in Dayton was an Antifa sympathizer, and a staunch supporter of Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), both socialists. Also, according to his girlfriend, he had compiled names on a “rape list” and a “kill list.” He died a radical leftist at the bloody scene of his evil deeds.

None of these details about the two killers will be found on ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, or CNN, so don’t look.

These deaths had nothing to do with President Trump or his supporters; yet the Propaganda Press accuses Trump, using their media myth of “white supremacism.” Trump is fomenting the violence, says Joe Scarborough of MSNBC, by simply accepting money from his “white supremacist donors.” This bogeyman lurks on the Right, says the press, even though the ideology of racial supremacism is found historically only on the Left. Nazism, fascism, other strains of socialism and the KKK, are found on the Left. This is where Democrats get “identity politics.” They see race in everything and everywhere, and harbor hatred for those who don’t. But the sickness and depravity in the press won’t stop, no matter how many are killed in “gun free zones.”

Progressives assigned blame in unison: “It’s access to guns!” or “It’s white supremacy!” when it was neither of these, particularly in Chicago. The president addressed the nation in the aftermath of the two tragic events, and emphasized that he knows the reason for the two shootings had to do with “hatred in the soul.”

It’s disgusting. Democrats and their media army turn tragedies into political spectacle, using the dead and wounded as props, and the Republicans fall for it every time. Now the GOP talks compromise on a federal background check system and a national “red flag” law, with the very people who openly admit they want to confiscate all personal firearms from law-abiding Americans. Are Republicans so ignorant, that they cannot understand who they’re dealing with? And now Trump signs on?

It’s not “guns.” Reasons today are the same as the 24 multiple-victim shootings during the Obama era and those before that. Firearms are not the cause. In the 1950s and 1960s the percentage of American citizens who owned firearms was greater than today. But these incidents didn’t happen then as they do today. What’s changed? We should ask, “What happened… to our culture… to our school systems… to our society… to our families… and to our faith?”

We know where to find the answers, the causes, but very few of our leaders have the courage, or the will, to ask the questions.
