Unprecedented Abuse of Power – by Jim Bratten

In her recent piece in the Wall Street Journal titled “Adam Schiff is Watching” Kimberley Strassel wrote how Rep. Adam Schiff’s “obtaining phone logs of political rivals is a stunning abuse of congressional power.” Upon Schiff’s demand, a telecom company rolled over and gave him the phone records he demanded, instead of refusing his demand and going to court to stop the release of confidential data.

Schiff had obtained records of the phone conversations of Republican Rep. Devin Nunes, Trump attorney and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and reporter John Solomon, on the editorial staff of The Hill. He wasn’t just violating House ethics rules by illegally spying on a fellow congressman; Schiff was collecting data on private citizens. But he isn’t the FBI or CIA, so what’s he doing spying on anybody? Even though he’s chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Schiff’s actions are a perverse, and despicably corrupt, abuse of power.

Strassel discovered that, “…Mr. Schiff has himself trampled law and [his] responsibility… If nothing else, Mr. Schiff claims the ignominious distinction of being the first congressman to use his official power to spy on a fellow member and publish the details.” Adam Schiff had subpoenaed the phone records from AT&T and then publicly released them. His excuse for publishing the names of the phone contacts was that there was a conspiracy afoot to commit an impeachable offense.

It turns out that Schiff received help from AT&T and the NSA (National Security Agency). We recall that the corrupt Obama Regime did frequent spying (intelligence gathering) on its political enemies, including congressmen, and also illegally unmasked private citizens with the help of the NSA. Now, Adam Schiff has expanded the abuse, spying on his fellow congressmen.

Is this all that these demented Democrats can think of – that somewhere, someone is committing “impeachable offenses”? Yes, if they’re Republicans. And, if Trump isn’t impeached now, and goes on to win the 2020 presidential election… THAT will also be an impeachable offense.
