Man-Made Disaster: Where Did This Dumb Idea Come From? – by Jim Bratten

Niall Ferguson, a professor at Imperial College in Great Britain, issued his projections for the human cost from the Wuhan virus attack: for Great Britain, ½ million dead; for the U.S., 2.2 million. Both countries took Ferguson’s advice, as did other nations, and pursued “lockdown” procedures and shelter-in-place plans; essentially forcing healthy economies to shut down.

As is now being discovered in other nations, the U.S. found huge discrepancies in the actual number of Wuhan virus cases and vast differences in deaths from the forecast models provided by Ferguson. These were the same projections blindly adhered to by Doctors Fauci and Birx on President Trump’s Coronavirus Task Force. Dr. Fauci has endorsed the reliability of Ferguson’s projections even though, it turns out, he has a poor record of accurate “modeling.” Sweden didn’t follow Ferguson’s plan, leaving their economy open. On May 5 their fatalities were lower than most nations in Europe.

According to a report by J.P. Morgan, the lockdown strategy will cause more deaths in the United States than fatalities from the Wuhan virus. It revealed death from depression is up by 75,000 since the lockdown began. Add to that other reasons for suicide, such as deaths from drug overdose and alcohol abuse, and you easily surpass the total lives lost from the Wuhan. It also reported that virus numbers are low in states that never “locked down” and decreased in states after lockdown had been lifted. New Wuhan virus cases in Florida were down 14%, and in Georgia, 12%.

In the last nine weeks, 38.6 million claims for unemployment were filed. Due to the lockdowns in most states, much of the U.S. is now in a pit of despair because of fear of the “unknown.” For some, however, the man-made crisis was an opportunity.

American progressives jumped at the chance to use the “crisis” for control of societal behavior. They knew that half the U.S. population slavishly follows major media networks. What these powerful networks say is believed, almost without question. It would be easy to spread panic and fear, and so they have; they just needed to decide how far up they wanted to dial the “chaos” meter.

After two months, more Americans are waking up to the reality caused by the shutdown of our prosperous country. Many are now experiencing the results of man-made disaster, trapped under the thumbs of despotic state governors who cry “Public safety!” while their boots crush individual liberty and strangle freedom. They reassure, “Stay home and we will send you a check.”

Americans have had enough; especially in red states with a blue governor (Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, etc.). Even in far-left states such as New York and California, citizens wake to what fascism feels like.

David Marcus, the New York correspondent for The Federalist, wrote this in an op-ed for the New York Post on May 20, voicing the frustration of freedom-loving New Yorkers: “If our elected leaders won’t save the world’s greatest city from a slow death by economic strangulation, then the people of New York must do it themselves… while maintaining social distancing, of course… and dare the state to shut them down…

“Our politicians serve by our consent; we don’t run our businesses or live our lives by their consent. The suggestion to the contrary is an affront to Americanism.

“There is no longer any justification for the government to deprive us of our livelihoods. And our rights aren’t the government’s to grant or take away. They belong to us – the free grant of nature and the God of nature. We’re Americans. More than that: New Yorkers, (expletive deleted).”

Where did we get this ridiculous idea of shutting down an entire economy because of a virus with a survival rate of 98%? It’s nonsensical, but it was done. And the ensuing damage to our nation is severe. Our nation needs to open, fully, and NOW.
