‘Young Conservatives’ Launches #AnyoneButAmy (Word) Meme Campaign

As social media evolves in today’s society, internet memes are one of the most eye-catching info-graphics most commonly posted across the board. Memes are images with statements that are usually funny, sarcastic, or cause one to question their own perspective. One local group has recently been using memes to get their point across to voters.

With just days before the general election, Young Conservatives of Southern Indiana has launched a meme campaign geared toward influencing the remaining 35% of registered voters of Vanderburgh County who have yet to vote.

The campaign is titled “#AnyoneButAmy” in reference to Amy Word who is running for EVSC School Board in District 3. Word has posted revealing photos of herself online and some of those photos have made it into the memes.

Amy Word owns two bars on Franklin Street and is known for hosting the highly controversial Drag Queen Shows for children.

Word is running for one of two seats on the School Board against retired school teacher Ruth Baize and School Board incumbents Pastor Terry Gamblin and retired police officer Jeff Worthington.

Young Conservatives of Southern Indiana (YCSI) is a local political action committee (PAC) who has endorsed Ruth Baize as their favored candidate in the running.

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb (R) is also a target of YCSI’s meme campaigns as the PAC attacks Holcomb’s approach to the mask mandates, his support of Red Flag laws, and what seems to be Holcomb’s left-leaning approach on the issues of today.

In one meme, YCSI refers to Holcomb as a Democrat, in another as a “Rino-crat” in reference to the acronym for “Republican In Name Only” and another points out the Holcomb kept the abortion clinics open as essential businesses during the Covid lockdown.

YCSI has also endorsed Donald Rainwater, the Libertarian candidate for governor who supports gun rights, opposes red flag laws, vows to defund Planned Parenthood, and appears decidedly more conservative on the issues than his opponents.

In two of the memes targeting Amy Word, the images imply that Word’s presence on the EVSC School Board could influence local school children into the same direction as the children on the controversial Netflix series, “Cuties”. Netflix has recently been indicted on charges of child pornography due to the content of this show.

On Tuesday, two of the four EVSC School Board candidates will be elected to District 3. All registered voters in Vanderburgh County will have the opportunity to vote for District 3.

Election Day is November 3rd and voting locations will close at 6pm. Barring ballot counting complications, local winners will be announced Tuesday evening.
