As the new Democrat-Socialist Party reveals its radical identity in its attempts to derail President Trump’s reelection, we discover it is antithetical, alien, to America’s Founding.
In his Constitution Day speech at the White House Conference on American History, President Trump illustrated the gravity of what we face in this election: a battle to restore an understanding of the American Identity and the necessity to defeat those who seek to destroy it.
“The radicals burning American flags want to burn the principles enshrined in our founding documents, including the bedrock principle of equal justice under law. In order to radically transform America, they must first cause Americans to lose confidence in who we are, where we came from, and what we believe. As I said at Mount Rushmore… the left-wing cultural revolution is designed to overthrow the American Revolution.”
We have seen evidence of this as Marxists, fascists and anarchists unleashed their revolutionary anger and anti-American propaganda in major Democrat-run cities this past summer. Trump explained, “[T]he left-wing rioting and mayhem are the direct result of decades of left-wing indoctrination in our schools… Our children are instructed from propaganda tracts… that try to make students ashamed of their own history… The Left has warped, distorted, and defiled the American Story with deceptions, falsehoods and lies.” It has rewritten American history “to teach our children that we were founded on the principle of oppression, not freedom.”
The objective, of course, is to deny our identity. Trump understands that, “America’s Founding set in motion the unstoppable chain of events that abolished slavery, secured civil rights, defeated communism and fascism, and built the most fair, equal, and prosperous nation in human history.”
As Thomas Klingenstein, chairman of the Claremont Institute, put it: “This election is a referendum on our founding… America has brought more freedom, more prosperity, to more people, than any nation in all of mankind.” Simply put, this election pits Americans against anti-Americans.
