Political Theater: Congressional Sewer Denizens Imitate Broadway

Jim Bratten

Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s January 6 Select Committee is another sham; nothing but staged theatrics. Its greatest fallacy compares the January 6 protest incident to an “insurrection.” Other false comparisons were the $1.2 million damage estimate for cosmetic Capitol building repair to the well over $2 billion in losses from property destruction done by Antifa and Black Lives Matter in the actual terror attacks last year.

The Lafayette Plaza riot in DC last summer (the White House Riot), lasted a week and was far more dangerous and more destructive with 60 secret service agents injured. But because the perpetrators were Antifa and BLM, there were no congressional committees or even concern among Democrat Party leadership, in the House OR the Senate. January 6, however, was “instigated by Donald Trump.” The lies just keep on comin’.

Pelosi’s first hearing of the Select Committee featured publicity-seeking congressional members on one hand and disingenuous, phony pretenders on the other, all players in a hyper-dramatized “investigation” that, with a little directing, could appear off Broadway. The Third Act will possibly feature another (third) Trump impeachment effort—ipso facto.

Four Capitol Hill Police (CHP) officers testified before the House Select Committee last Tuesday, hand-picked by Nancy Pelosi. They read their statements and answers to questions from “cheat sheets” placed before them on the table. They delivered what they were told to, fully rehearsed and tailored for sympathetic public consumption. Their roles were to portray themselves as victims of Donald Trump and his “extremist” loyalists, and they were there to pour their hearts out with emotional hyperbole.

One officer who testified, a regular guest on CNN and a rabid Trump-hater, pounded his fist on the table during his testimony. Another CHP officer, when questioned about the presence of “weapons” (there were none, unless a flagpole is deemed a weapon), explained that he thought an ink pen could be considered a weapon. All four officers chosen were ideologically in tune with Democrat leadership.

Several officers had asked to testify about what happened that day, officers who also took part in the incident, but were denied by Speaker Pelosi. These included a request to testify from the head of the Capitol Hill police officers’ union. Were they turned away because their statements conflicted with Nancy’s Narrative, i.e., “The Trump-Inspired, White Supremacist Insurrection That Attacked Capitol Hill Police in an Attempt to Overturn Our Democracy”?

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) offered to serve on Pelosi’s committee so it could be called “bipartisan” for PR value. He worked up some tears during his statement and gushed over the “bravery” shown by the officers in efforts against the “terrorists.” He boldly lied about the actual behavior of the CHP that day and pandered to Pelosi. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), another Pelosi Prop, delivered similar nonsense statements but with decidedly less emotion. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and the other Democrat committee members choked up with “pride” for the CHP officers’ actions during the incident and their “brave” testimony.

Hundreds of hours of video records on January 6, captured by a myriad of cameras that surveille the Capitol building and grounds, along with hundreds of cell phone video recordings taken by participants, have not been released, or even entered into evidence in this sham investigation. There must be video evidence that backs up what Democrats are selling…or is there?

We watched blubbering congressmen trade sorrowful comments with whining, sniveling Capitol Hill policemen; sell-outs to the rule of law, now embracing political posturing. They weren’t after hard facts or truthful testimony; the two sides were commiserating and playing to an audience.

All of this, just more political theater.
