Betrayal: GOP Swamp Dwellers Sell Out – by Jim Bratten

The $1.2 trillion, 2,700-page Infrastructure Bill has been called the “gateway to socialism.” It paves the way for a massive $3.5 trillion “budget bill” that immediately follows it, filed under the Senate’s “reconciliation” process (passes by a simple majority). The “Will of the People” is not present in either of these Democrat-authored spending and government expansion monstrosities that grow the welfare state. Since the accelerated ascendency of Marxism within the Democrat Party under Barack Obama in 2009, no Republican should be associated with the word “bipartisan.”

Nineteen Republican senators voted with Senate Democrats to forward the Leftists’ agenda to destroy our republic: Roy Blunt (MO); Richard Burr (NC); Bill Cassidy (LA); Shelly Moore Capito (WV); Susan Collins (ME); Kevin Cramer (ND); John Hoeven (ND); Mitch McConnell (KY); Lisa Murkowski (AK); Rob Portman (OH); Jim Risch (ID); Mitt Romney (UT); Thom Tillis (NC); Deb Fischer (NE); John Cornyn (TX); Roger Wicker (MS); Dan Sullivan (AK); Mike Crapo (ID); and, no surprise, Lindsey Graham (SC).

In a recent appearance on Newsmax, Patrick Dorinson, “The Common Sense Cowboy Commentator,” recommended the punishment for 19 dishonest Republican senators: “All this was…they gave 19 senators a little pocket change to carry back to their states to say, ‘Oh, look what I got.’ Well, what it really is, is thirty pieces of silver. They betrayed their voters; and the voters who put them in office should be the ones puttin’ a boot to their backsides and kickin’ ‘em out of office…”

Voters in the states represented by these senators need to take his advice; the sooner, the better. These senators betrayed their oaths; they betrayed their constituents; they betrayed their nation and Constitution. This betrayal has to stop; the nation’s survival depends on it.

But Republican leadership in the Senate didn’t lift a finger to obstruct or delay the Infrastructure Bill—they did nothing but sit there, impotent. Once the Democrats knew the GOP would give them the votes to crest the 60-vote threshold for passage, the signal was given to Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) that the fix was in for the $3.5 trillion “budget plan” to be filed under reconciliation. Chuck Schumer announced the vote shortly after the Infrastructure Bill passed. The newly-named Reconciliation Bill needs a simple majority to pass and be sent on to the House.

It contains provisions for paid leave, child care, free Pre-K, free community college, green energy (Green New Deal), an expansion of Medicare, and dozens of other progressive boondoggles. Republican Senator Mike Lee (UT) called it an “inflation bomb.” The anti-freedom bill greatly expands the size of government, helping to destroy suburbs, establish DACA as law, give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, and issue green cards to millions more. Ignoring reality will cause greater inflation and every child now born in the U.S. will be weighed down with $750,000 in debt.

Victor Davis Hanson of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University is known for his directness. In a recent article, he asked this question: “Has America lost its will to defend and fight for freedom?” That important question needs to be answered.

There’s an enemy within our nation that seeks to destroy our constitutional republic and replace it with a Marxist oligarchy, much of which has been in place since 2009. It has now stolen an election and taken control of our government. To answer Mr. Hanson’s question, “Have we?”
