Wendy McNamara: “I Will Not Hear This Bill” (HB-1481) – by Doug Johnson

Our District Indiana House Representative: WENDY MCNAMARA KILLS Obscenity Exemption Bill: HB-1481 as Chair of the committee

Indiana House Bill HB-1481 concerns: “Information and performances harmful to minors”

Let Wendy McNamara and other Indiana Legislators know that you are aware of her comment Saturday 2/9/2018 at the Meet Your Legislators’ Event at Evansville’s Central Library and want HB-1481 read.

Wendy McNamara went on record in a room with nearly 200 people listening that she would not hear HB-1481 in committee. She is chair of the committee and “not hearing it” kills this bill.

Her reasoning?
“I have 94 bills to hear and this bill is redundant to previously passed legislation.”

Public Schools and Public Libraries currently use the defense of “It’s for scientific or educational purposes” in order to protect themselves from Civil action. This bill removes them from using that as a defense in the future.

HB-1481 Bill Summary:
Information or performances harmful to minors. Provides that a college, university, or museum, or its employee acting within the scope of the employee’s employment, may raise a defense to a prosecution for the crime of dissemination of matter or conducting a performance harmful to minors. Prohibits any school or public library that qualifies for certain property tax exemptions to raise a defense to a prosecution for the crime of dissemination of matter or conducting a performance harmful to minors. Provides that the victim has a civil cause of action against the person convicted of the crime of dissemination of matter

Wendy McNamara….

  • – Literally works for the school systems and is also doing their bidding, killing HB-1481
  • – Does the bidding of the Library – American Library Association (ALA).

ALA is heavily involved in contacting legislators, they have an agenda. One of which is the Drag Queen Story Hour around the nation.

So, the schools and libraries have a trump card against this type of lawsuit and this bill tries to destroy that trump card. Wendy said it “is redundant to previously passed legislation.” How can that be possible?
