On September 17, Constitution Day, President Donald Trump delivered an address at the White House Conference on American History, held at the National Archives Museum. He spoke briefly about the gravity of America’s founding documents, what those have meant for our nation, our people, and mankind.
Then he turned to what the radical Left is doing to our nation, and what they plan to accomplish: “… [T]he left-wing cultural revolution is designed to overthrow the American Revolution.” Here are some of his words, delivered with clarity and purpose: “
[A] radical movement is attempting to demolish this treasured and precious inheritance… Left-wing mobs have torn down statues of our Founders, desecrated our memorials, and carried out a campaign of violence and anarchy… The Left has launched a violent and vicious assault on law enforcement…” He then exposed their strategy for a radical transformation.
“Whether it is the mob on the street, or the cancel culture… the goal is the same: to silence dissent, to scare you out of speaking the truth… to bully Americans into abandoning their values, their heritage, and their very way of life.” He declared that “we will never submit to tyranny,” stating firmly, “We will reclaim our history.”
Then the president announced his plan: the creation of the “1776 Commission,” to promote patriotic education once more in U.S. classrooms and to combat the progressives’ agenda of rewriting U.S. history. “Critical race theory, The 1619 Project, and the crusade against American history is toxic propaganda, ideological poison,” and must be removed from our schools, he explained.
“Our mission is to defend the legacy of America’s Founding, the virtue of America’s heroes, and the nobility of the American character,” Trump explained. “We must clear away the twisted web of lies in our schools and classrooms and teach our children the magnificent truth about our country. We want our sons and daughters to know that they are the citizens of the most exceptional nation in the history of the world.”
